Preparation of the Russian Climbing Team for the WC in Sheffield
After WC in Eindhoven Russian Climbing Team started training for the next WC in Sheffield (Great Britain (competition info, starting list)). Training sessions took place in the local hall, Monk Bouldergym.
Trainings passed in regular as they took place in the climbing gym in Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI, State University of Aerospace Technologies). Note, that part of the Russian Team which departs from Eindhoven to Sheffield, live in Moscow and mostly train in MAI bouldergym. In Monk Bouldergym there are a lot of boulders built by color, however the biggest interest for our athletes was represented by three overhanging plains where holds are randomly distributed. It implies more different combinations than beforehand built routes .
What else one can say about training “secrets” of the Russian Team? Besides of long powerful moves, special attention is paid for dynamic movements, long jumping to holds, and series of jumping. After the main climbing training session big attention is paid for general power training that is campusboard, pull-ups etc. Rustam’s amazing climbing in campus you can watch here.
From my side I can say that communication with these people at home and joint trainings with them give me a huge motivation which will support me for long time even after their leaving…
So, short but nice portfolio: Alexandra Balakireva, Yulia Abramchuk, Rustam Gelmanov, Alexei Rubtsov and the best friend of all Russian and Ukrainian climbers, Dutch Climbing Team member, Truong Ngo!
