Could you please tell how it all began? How did you start climbing? At what age? Who helped you? Who was your coach and what was your parents reaction?
I start climbing when I was 14 years old. My friend show me one small rock which name is Stranska skala near my home. At the beginning I haven’t a coach and my parents hate my hobby, because I’m not going to the school. Now I climbing with my girlfriend Helena Lipenska, which is professional coach.
- What attracts you in climbing?
Climbing in the rocks, climbing is my live style.
- What competitions did you take part in and how difficult were they?
I hate isolation zone, for me competitions are show and work for money.
- How do you train and what do you pay most attention to while training?
I train 20 hours a week.
- What advise(s) would you give to the beginner climbers?
Don’t think, just climb and climb.
- Where do you like to climb and why?
In the south of Europe, there are many hard routes, 30m long. I like it.
- What is better: a gym or natural rocks?
Rocks
- What countries have you been to? What is the best place in the world to climb?
I was in Europe, I like climbing in Spain, France, Italy, Slovenien. Last year I was in Thailand and there was everything good, except climbing.
- Who had the most influence on you as a climber? As a person?
Many person, now Helena.
- What else, besides climbing, do you like to do? What do you do in free time?
I like music. One years ago I buy a dog, it’s Jack Russell terrier, his name is Jack. I spend a lot of time with him.
- What achievements do you consider your best by now?
I worldchampion 2003, winner world cup 2004.
- Do you regret quitting karate? Do you think that if you had been training in martial arts as intensively as you had in climbing, you would have been a sensei by now with your own school?
I don’t quitting. It’s good for climbing, I’m hypermobility, and I have good stability.
